The 2010 Super Conference, to be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from February 24 - 27, 2010, is getting closer and we have an opportunity for you to get involved! Your OCULA division has planned 33 sessions on a range of topics including marketing & promotions, collaborations & partnerships, collections management, information literacy, Spotlights on Research, and more.
We are now looking for people to convene the OCULA sessions and are hoping that you would like to get involved. As a convenor, you will be asked to:

Please note that session convenors DO NOT receive a registration discount.

Don’t forget to consider nominating an academic librarian or group of academic librarians for an OCULA award. New this year, we have two different awards to bestow. The nomination deadline is December 9th and awards will be presented at our Annual General Meeting at Super Conference 2010.
Nazi Torabi was recently appointed Research and Instructional Librarian (Health Sciences / Nursing). Prior to joining Western, she was a Graduate Academic Assistant at the Woodward Biomedical Library at the University of British Columbia and the David Lam Business Library, at the Sauder School of Business, UBC. Nazi holds a Masters in Experimental Medicine from McGill and a MLIS from UBC.
After 35 years as a reference librarian in The D.B Weldon Library, Walter Zimmerman is retiring at the end of 2009. Generations of Western students have benefited from Walter’s first-class reference skills and passion for helping people. Walter’s enthusiasm for Google and intimate knowledge of how to construct the best search strategy in Google Scholar have earned him the moniker “Mr Google.” Walter received Western’s Staff Award of Excellence in 2008, a fitting end to an illustrious career.

The Annual Augustana Information Literacy Workshop was developed as a mechanism to learn from high profile librarians who have demonstrated deep engagements in various aspects of Information Literacy. The workshop attracts 75-100 attendees each fall to Augustana from across North America. This year’s conference theme is: New Foundations: Building An Inquiry-Based Information Literacy Agenda.

The WILU 2010 Organizing Committee invites the submission of proposals for presentation at the 39th annual WILU (Workshop on Instruction in Library Use). This year’s conference will be hosted by McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, from May 12-14, 2010 with the theme “Design Play Learn”.
